As your current Secretary / Treasurer of the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS, I have been learning and working hard on your behalf for several years. I have devoted time to learning first-hand about the state association workings, first as a director, then as RPV, then focus area Vice President, then finally for the last two years as your secretary/treasurer. I was inspired by the intelligent, passionate Realtors I met, witnessing the collaboration between local, state and national associations, and our critical mission.
I believe that experience on the Executive Committee and understanding the inner workings of the association was an important first step. The information I learned from the groups I’ve been a part of will all inform my years ahead. From Personnel, to Finance, to Government Affairs, and more, I’ve learned what needs to be done better, what is already outstanding, and how we can work together to create a bright future for real estate professionals in Massachusetts.
One of my favorite quotes is, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. I’ve learned most importantly that there are so many REALTORS across the state who are ready to serve the state association to keep our positive momentum going. I can tell you first hand that this organization is not run by one – it’s an important combination of our past leaders, our current leaders and the members we serve who marshal together for a united cause.
From the Berkshire Hills to the sands of Cape Cod, I believe that learning about the state association was only half of the knowledge I needed to lead effectively – it’s about ALL of the associations – all of the local boards, their leadership and staff who are on the front lines of meeting our member’s needs day-to-day. I made a commitment when I first ran for office years ago, and I’ve spent the past several years going to all of the local boards, your regional caucuses, and some of the greatest events I’ve been able to experience. It was awesome the way you rolled out the red carpet for me, but please know that beyond the fun times… I have listened to you, and most importantly, I’ve learned from you – about your local issues, your strengths, your worries about the future. And I became inspired to serve you during those learning years.
Now, I ask for your vote for 2018 President Elect and 2019 President of the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS. I ask for you to consider me in recognition of my history of statewide leadership, my love the association, my experience and my commitment to representing the local associations in Massachusetts. Thank you.
